Pretty impressive no skips…lol…Neil Geraldo is one of the most underrated guitarists in history. I like the singer , too not bad for a girl. Thx 4 de memories.

thanks for the post of this version! i just saw pat with blondie in chicago. she sounds great!! i was secretly hoping she’d do this song, but not surprising she stuck to the big hits. great show!!

Oh, my God. I listened to Kate’s version first and loved it, but I think this song (Pat’s version) has to be my favorite. I’ve never read or watched Wuthering Heights but the lyrics by themselves without any context is kind of heart breaking, very beautiful.

Thanks, Pat is one of my favorite Ladies of the 80’s, a true rocker! Thanks for understanding and for introducing me to Kate Bush. You can learn something new everyday! LOL!!

    Exactimages:
Thank you for being the first to admit that you have a bias towards Pat’s version (out of love respect for Pat, of course). You rock for that.

Pat kicks major ass, but she can’t top Kate’s version.

Both are great vocalists but I am leaning towards this Benatar version. I do think them both great works though. I like when an artists does redo a song and they change it up. Just my opinion. Peace out…

I agree with you. They are both good.

I’ve always loved the Kate Bush version since it came out, and didn’t know about this one. But I like this – it’s done well and different enough that the two versions don’t need to compete. They’re both good and both do the song justice. Thanks for posting it on here.

Yeah, I hadn’t heard of Kate Bush’s version til last week or so!! LOL or Kate Bush for that matter! Both versions have a lot of style. I’m just such a Benetar fan, I guess I’m a little biased towards her.

Kate Bush’s version reached number 1 though, I never even knew this version existed D: it’s good but I personally much prefer Kate’s as it has a mor gothic haunting feel to it. The song is kind of famous for the high pitched voice and her crazy dancing you gotta admit XD

    Very good.compared to Kate Bush´s
version,It is almoust a bit metal
But Kate Bush is the best anyway.

I saw Pat sing this in Delaware at a bar called Big Kahuna; it’s beautiful and I love the original by Kate Bush too!

I stand corrected and feel silly…after researching I learned that this was the cover version done of Kate Bush. I had never heard of her before and assumed this was new. Wow, all the way back to 78′boy was I was enlightened! I still think it’s cool that she introduced us to a totally different style of music without us knowing in a way. LOL Thanks for the feedback and for posting the song. I will always love this version.

This is NOT the original version. Kate Bush wrote the song and performed it on her first album in 1978. Click on my video response.

You can hear the lyrics way better too.

Regardless of what others comment, this was the original version, done in the 80’s on a hard rock album. This woman introduced the rest of us to something we would never had listened to. Kudos must go out. Yeah it’s in a lower key, but that’s what her audience wanted, we were 80’s metal rockers listening to a song from a musical!! Now that’s culture. I will always love this version. Kate Bush sounds like she swallowed helium.

    completely agree

As an American child of the 80s, Pat Benatar introduced this song to me. I knew she had been trained as an opera singer and I bet she appreciated the opportunity to record such a complicated vocal. When I got to college and became a fan of Kate Bush’s music, it was much clearer what the song is about and indeed, no one can touch the original. Benatar still did a great job though.

this version rocks, its not a fucking contest! Thanks for the post!

In America you have to understand that before Kate Bush had a hit with Running Up That Hill when Kate garnered a respectable stateside following, most people knew of her via Pat Benatar.

I think Pat missed the mark completely, its as if she doesn’t really know what the song is about. It is completely melodramatic. Obviously Pat Benatar has a great voice maybe the best in the business. But, Kate Bush is the total artist.

For anyone to cover Kate Bush, it takes balls.

This is a beautiful version. Nothing will ever top Kate’s, but this one must get kudos, irrespective of the key it’s in. Great job.
