I am new at collecting records so I am unsure as to what brand is good at converting.

Depends on how much you want to spend. As low cost as 80 or so on up to a few thousand dollars.

Ultimately, the best USB turntable is the one you make yourself out of an excellent analog turntable.

Most USB turntables are in the $100 range. That’s adequate for a CD player but awful for a turntable.

DJ USB turntables are the next step up. However, they need to be properly outfitted to sound the best and not be too rough on your vinyl.

Finally, there is one audiophile USB turntable- the Pro-Ject Debut III USB at around $500. It is the best USB turntable in terms of it specifications.

There are many analog turntables that cost less than the Pro-Ject and have better specs. However, it’s up to you to make them digital. There are boxes under $100 that turn any analog turntable into a USB turntable.

That’s a quick summary. I invite you to read more on my USB turntable buying guide.
